I promise this is the last anniversary related post! Hey, 10 years is something to celebrate! My wonderful parents gave us the best gift in the world by letting us use their timeshare for an anniversary trip. We knew we wanted to go somewhere warm and tropical (we both LOVE Hawaii but wanted to go somewhere new and different) so we picked St. Maarten in the Carribean and boy are we glad we made that decision, it was amazing! The water was so warm and so many gorgeous shades of blue, the beaches were amazing, the food was absolutely incredible and aside from missing our girls it was by far the best week of our lives. The best part was literally spending every moment with Matt, totally disconnected from phones, internet, work and e-mails. I felt like our marriage was so refreshed, we completely reconnected and fell more in love with each other for the millionth time. It was incredible and I will never ever forget it.
Rum punch - the island's signature drink and it was soooo yummy
The marina view from our hotel room
The gorgeous beach at our hotel (not to mention that pretty gorgeous guy out there:)
This was my view 99% of the time - beautiful water, my kindle and a pina colada
Matt played the only golf course on the whole island
And this is what I did while he golfed...read on my Kindle :)
The golf course was pretty crummy but had gorgeous views
How much fun does that look? There are a bunch of slides and rope swings. If it was open, Matt and I totally would have swam out there to check it out
One of our favorite beaches on the French side - Palm Beach
One day we took a Catamaran tour around the whole island. We stopped three times and got to jump off the boat and go snorkeling and swimming
Matt MADE me jump off the side of the boat - it was really high up!
They served us all champagne at sunset at the end of the trip
Going out to dinner
Back at our favorite beach on the island
At dinner
We took a ferry ride over to the island of Anguilla - BEST ISLAND EVER!!! We want to go back sometime and stay on this island
We rented a car and Matt was issued a temporary Anguilla drivers license. It's good for 3 months! Ha!
It's a British island so you have to drive on the left side of the road - it was definitely an experience!
This beach became our absolute favorite, doesn't it look like a postcard?
Ferry ride back to St. Maarten
We took another tour one day on these 'Rhinos' - basically a little motor boat and waverunner all in one. I don't have a picture of us on it or any part of the tour since we couldn't take our cameras but it was a blast!
The pool of our hotel with an infinity edge overlooking the ocean
Tropical Storm Raphael totally ruined our last day - it absolutely downpoured ALL DAY but it was fun just cuddling in our hotel room watching movies, reading and napping while listening to the rain
Our little friend on our balcony
It was the best trip ever and we can't wait to take the girls with us someday!!!
